The offseason moves have reshaped the competitive landscape. Using a combination of ZiPS projections, PECOTA data, and our proprietary models, here are the division-by-division breakdowns for the 2026 season. These aren't just predictions. They're betting blueprints.
American League East
AL East Projected Standings
The Corbin Burnes signing is a game-changer for Boston. They now have a legitimate ace to pair with a lineup that was already top-10 in wRC+. The Orioles losing Burnes drops them from division favorites to wild card contenders. The Yankees' aging core and the Jays' transition year create opportunity.
American League Central
AL Central Projected Standings
This is my favorite division to bet on. The Tigers have one of baseball's best rotations (Skubal, Mize, Manning) and added Alex Bregman to anchor the lineup. Cleveland overperformed their Pythagorean record by 5 wins in 2025. That usually regresses. Detroit is legitimate.
American League West
AL West Projected Standings
Houston's window isn't closed. Their farm system is producing again, and the core of Alvarez, Tucker, and Altuve still mashes. The Rangers replacing their departed offense with Santander keeps them competitive. Seattle's pitching is elite but their bats remain a question mark.
National League East
NL East Projected Standings
The Phillies are the safest bet in baseball. They return essentially the same roster that won 95+ games, and their lineup is stacked 1-9. Atlanta's health concerns linger, but when fully healthy they're scary. The Mets losing Alonso hurts more than people realize.
National League Central
NL Central Projected Standings
The weakest division in baseball. The Cubs adding Blake Snell makes them the favorites, but this is a division where 85 wins could take it. Milwaukee's sustainability concerns persist. The Cardinals are in transition mode.
National League West
NL West Projected Standings
The Dodgers are still the Dodgers. But at -350 to win the division, there's no value. The Padres and D-backs are both legitimate threats if LA stumbles. The Giants adding Alonso is intriguing but doesn't fix their pitching. Colorado is... Colorado.
World Series Futures Worth Targeting
Based on these projections, here are the World Series futures with the most value:
I'll update these projections as spring training unfolds and we get a clearer picture of roster health and prospect promotions. But the framework is set. The offseason winners are clear. Now it's about finding the value before the market catches up.
